Tesco have to put in an application to change the shop front. This is normally a technicality, but given Stokes Croft and the surrounding neighbourhoods have a unique character there is another opportunity to point out how Tesco simply won’t fit in.
Bristol City Council are writing a Local Development Framework (and other dry titled documents) which could make the difference between a thriving sustainable Stokes Croft or a ‘could-be-anywhere’ inner city neighbourhood.
Plus there is an election coming up with all major parties saying they want to give power back to communities. My Gran has some choice words about politicians which, if true, suggest we will have a big job on our hands holding them to their promises.
